New York Yankees. He was famous for 56 game hitting streaks. He played for the Yankees 13 years. He won in
1969 as sports greatest living player. He was the middle of three brothers who
each became major league center fielders. He had a problem in getting home runs
because of the Yankees stadium for being right handed. He married the famous film
star Marilyn Monroe. However, their marriage ended 274 days after the wedding.
The skirt blowing scene in the film The Seven Year Itch was considered the
relating incident in ending the marriage. According to Di-Maggio’s biographer Richard
Ben Cramer, the ground for divorce was mental cruelty.
